2 ESTATE ITEM 0980: Child size dishes - children's - Embossed pottery rose colored 24 piece tea and/or luncheon set from 1910 to 1930's is without a doubt the prettiest child's set of dishes I have ever seen! The solid rose color shows off a beautiful chrysanthemum or daisy flower on every plate accompanied by a few leaves on the edges in this lovely design. Each piece is marked Made in Japan in black under the glaze and all of this is very well glazed. This set is in excellent condition. Just have a look at all the photos to check out the quality of this item. As for age, we have been told by a very good source that their parent had a set of these as a child in the early 1920's. We have seen pieces of this set for sale in 2009 that did not have the quality of our set so our conclusion is that our set was made very early in the mold before the edges became sloppy. Someone took very good care of this set before my parents purchased it for their antique shop. We will double box this set to ship and insure. If you are a collector of children's dishes, these will be your special treasure and Christmas gift to yourself (I always buy myself a gift.). If you will be purchasing this for your daughter and she might want to actually eat off these plates or put some tea in the teapot I can say that the glaze is good inside and out and should be safe for food. We cannot however declare that it is safe for food (legal disclaimer). Luncheon/tea set dishes include: Teapot w/lid, Sugar w/lid, Creamer, Oval Platter, 6 cups and 6 saucers, 6 lunch plates = 24 pieces = 6 place setting. All photos below will enlarge.
