Knick Knacks
Knick Knacks = Any items owned/purchased for our own enjoyment. They are not a necessary item but may be something we have decided to collect. These items are also known as "dust collectors" that we place on shelves, into glass cabinets and in some cases on top of pianos. Usually these items are small, cute items some can be miniatures of actual larger items.
You will find these items well made and hand painted of smooth pottery, metal, or china/porcelain looking figures (like numerour Colonian Figures you see most everywhere). Hand painting these items was farmed our to women working from their homes to earn extra money. Quality is a problem however so be choosy about the items you want to purchase. Lots of companies made reproductions that are hard to identify starting in the 1960s. We have their catalogs so we are aware of the differences in "the real thing" as opposed to the copy.
